Solar PV Panels set to reduce Town Council?s Energy Bills    21 September, 2011
"

Immingham Town Council has installed a 9.9kw PV system on the roof of its Civic Centre. The scheme will benefit from a lifetime feed in tariff and should bring in over £4000 per annum, and reduce not only the energy bills, but also take out over 4 tonnes of CO2 at the same time.

Believed to be the first scheme on a Local Authority building in NE Lincs this project adds to the Council’s green agenda, complementing the zero carbon vehicle the Council purchased last year.

Speaking on behalf of the Council, Environment Committee Chairman, Cllr. Mike Burton said “We are at the forefront of this exciting technology. Not only will it save money and reduce pressure on the precept, but it does our bit for the environment too. We hope it will have the effect of encouraging others to follow suit.”

The scheme was installed in only 5 days by local company 365 Solar of Grimsby. Director Steve Scott said “It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with the Town Council on this flagship project. It’s the first of many which we are hoping to complete and we are currently delivering a similar sized one on a local school. The scope is there for the local authority sector to make some real savings. The fact that Immingham Town Council was quick to approach us shows how innovative they are”
