The Town Council has now submitted the planning application (DC 415) for 40 Solar PV Panels to be fitted to the roof of the Civic Centre. A decision is expected by the end of August.

Once fitted the panels should supply a substantial proportion of the electricity needed to run the building, and give the Council a guaranteed income stream for the next 25 years.
The panels pay for themselves after only 8 years and the capital cost is being met from existing reserves. The extra income will help offset the precept for years to come.

This is the first project on any local government building in NE Lincs and if passed by the planning authority will put Immingham Town Council at the forefront of the carbon reduction strategy in the area.
Hopefully others will follow and the Town Council is already looking at other green measures to help keep costs down

The Tender was awarded to  365 Solar Of Grimsby
